Obituary of Charles Tanzer

Charles “Chuck” Tanzer, 93, of N. Main Street, died on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany after being stricken at home.  He was born on July 29, 1925 and was the son of the late Edward and Carey Ann VanBuren Tanzer.  Chuck served with the United States Army, having served honorably from 1951 – 1953.  He had been a truck driver for NYRA working in Saratoga and Jamaica at the Raceways.  He was a member the Clifton Park Church of Christ and was the beloved husband of Patricia A. McLellan Tanzer, whom he married on Sept. 3, 2010.

He is devoted father of Ken Tanzer, Chuck Tanzer, Jr., Bernie Tanzer, Michael Tanzer Sr. and Michelle Tanzer; stepfather of Gloria Jeane Nelliegan, Patricia Anne Elizabeth Nelligan and the late John Paul Nelligan; brother of Rose Stafford; also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren and step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Friday August 31, 2018 at 1:30 pm at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery with full military honors.

There will be no calling hours.
