I've had the book - "Living to Learn & Learning to Live" for a while & just finished reading it. What a wonderful autobiography. I then found Dr Chugh's obituary & was very saddened to learn this wonderful educator had passed away. I was a student of Dr. Chugh's at SUNY Potsdam in the early 70s. I was a Sociology major (even had Dr. Hanson as a professor) when I began also taking Economics classes. I enjoyed them so much that I decided to double major - Sociology & Economics. I thank Dr. Chugh for helping to make my college experience wonderful. May he R.I.P. My condolences to the family.

I am saddened to hear that Dr. Chugh has passed. I took his micro-economics and macro-economics courses in the late 70's and remember him as one of the best teachers I've ever had. One did not need to raise one's hand in class--he could tell if any of us had a question or was confused and he would call on us. His kindness was unconditional. He was a touchstone. I would google him over the years, gratified to see that he was still embracing what life had to offer, was still offering his services, was still organizing and engaging to make things better. It helps to know that people like Dr Chugh, with his heart and compassion and wisdom, can thrive in the world. My condolences to his family.

I have recently found out about Ram's passing.
My sincerest condolences to Ram Chugh's family and friends. I became acquainted with Ram when I served on the advisory board of The SUNY Retirees Core. Ram always gave you a warm feeling when you spoke with him. A very well respected person in any project he was involved in. Regardless of the capacity you were dealing with Ram, he made you feel like family. He was definetly was one of the best people I have ever met(if not the best), he also a kind word for anyone he met.. I will miss my dear friend as I am sure Ram will be missed by any who knew him.
Rest in Peace my friend.

Dear Seema and Pooja. Those of us who were privileged to know him are saddened by the loss of Ram. He was the strongest faculty member I ever knew at Potsdam. Ram was outstanding in the classroom, in his scholarship, and in his service activities. I fondly remember working with him on a number of projects and was always impressed with his commitment to doing an outstanding job. Please take comfort in the fact that Ram was so well liked and respected.

Seema and Pooja, I was so sorry to hear about Ram’s passing. You may not remember me. I worked for Ram in the Rural Services Institute at SUNY Potsdam in the early 1990s before I went to graduate school. In addition to being a wonderful boss, Ram taught me so much about being a professor and a professional. He was an amazing person. You are in my thoughts.
