Obituary of Margaret Dickinson
Margaret A. “Peggy” Dickinson, 89, of Clifton Park died peacefully on Thursday, November 4, 2021. Peggy was born in Philadelphia on June 12, 1932. She was the beloved daughter of the late Helen (McCann) and Joseph McGrath of Philadelphia. She is the beloved wife of the Raymond W. Dickinson, who died on June 18, 2013. Peggy is the devoted mother of Robin (Edward) Graham of Venice, Florida, Sheley (Andrew) Tozier of Clifton Park, New York and the late Gerri Pouliot. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Peggy and Ray were high school sweethearts who dated for seven years and were married for 59 years. Peggy was a dedicated wife, mother, nanny and homemaker. In addition, she was employed at All State Insurance in Philadelphia and later at Shenendehowa Central schools as a lunchroom monitor. She was lovingly named “Grandma” because of her gray hair by the children she assisted each day. Peggy (Nanny) always had an open door for friends, neighbors and strangers. The tea kettle was always hot and “Nanny Cake” ready to slice and share at her kitchen table. Evening visits may have even included a glass of pink wine! Beach vacations in Ocean City, NJ with family and close friends were treasured times. Watching children play on the beach, wandering and shopping on the boardwalk filled her with joy. Even snow did not deter her from a beach get-away in December! Gifts of salt-water taffy or Shriver’s mints were always shared when Peggy arrived home. Nanny devoted her life and love to children – she loved them all and they loved her into their adulthood. Nanny’s sweet spirit, thoughtful advice, sense of humor, everlasting strength and genuine kindness will truly be missed. Since 1969, she was a devoted and active parishioner at St. Edward the Confessor Church in Clifton Park.
