Bette B. Sovik, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday February 27, 2017 at the Gateway House of Peace. Born in Lehman, PA she is the daughter of the late Harold and Dorothy Bertram. Bette was a graduate of Mt. Sinai Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse at Albany Memorial Hospital. She was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church, active with Daughters of the King and enjoyed the ministry of the Altar Guild. Bette was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, an enthusiastic member of the Schenectady Curling Club and loved playing Bridge. Bette was predeceased by her husband Robert A. Sovik in 2014. She is survived by her daughters, Susan S. (Gordon) Streeter and Lisa S. (Steven) Nieradka; her sister, Janice B. (William) Lopasky; and her granddaughter, Alexis Ann Nieradka. Those wishing to remember Bette in a special way can make memorial contributions in her name to St. George's Episcopal Church, 912 Rt. 146 Clifton Park, NY 12065 or Gateway House of Peace, 479 Rowland St. Ballston Spa, NY 12020. Funeral services for Bette will be held on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. St. George's Episcopal Church, Clifton Park. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 5-7 p.m. at the church.
