Obituary of Cynthia V. Dougherty
Cynthia V. “Cinni” Vumbaco Dougherty, 76, of Brunswick, beloved wife of Edward F. “Ned” Dougherty, peacefully entered into eternal life with the comfort and love of her family at her side on Friday, April 21, 2023.
Born in Troy, NY, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Bocketti Vumbaco and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School, Class of 1964. She then continued her education at St. Catherine’s Nursing School.
Mrs. Dougherty retired from Samaritan Hospital after 30 years of dedicated service. She was then employed for 10 years with the Rensselaer County Department of Health.
She loved her Grandchildren, reading, cooking and spending time with her family. Her hobbies and interests included anywhere that had a slot machine.
Beloved wife to Ned, devoted mother of Lisa (Frank) Daniels and Kevin (Aimee) Dougherty, sister of Patricia (Kenneth) Nelsen, Mary (James) Marshall, Frank (Diane) Vumbaco, Candace (Gregory) Pound and Margaret (Charles) Farrell, cherished grandmother of Connor, Collin and Kayla Dougherty, Frank Daniels, Jr. and Eleanor Daniels, also survived by several nieces and nephews.
At Cindy’s request, a private service will be held for her immediate family.
The Dougherty family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Pahwa/Dr. Chang and the CCU Unit at Samaritan Hospital.
