Obituary of Robert Armand Bechard
Robert Armand Bechard, vintage car aficionado, cat lover, master chef, beloved husband and father, died peacefully at home on Thursday, October 26th, 2023.
Born in Cohoes on November 25, 1948, he was the son of the late Maurice and Germaine Piche Bechard. He graduated from Keveny Memorial Academy in 1966 and zealously pursued a life of dancing, singing Sinatra in the kitchen as he crafted epic meals, and auto body repair.
On July 18, 1981 he married the love of his life, Gail Thomas. They would later have two offspring, Jennifer and Matthew, who worshipped the ground he walked on. When he wasn’t accompanying them to dance recitals, Yankees games, or bowling tournaments, Bob worked as a collision repair specialist. Always the life of the party, he thrived in social situations and made many weekend excursions to Vermont to spend time with his extended family. He also greatly enjoyed volunteering at the American Legion, Mohawk Post 1450.
Although he leaves behind no grand*children,* he will be greatly missed by his grand-cats, Jameson and Guinness, and his own beloved cat of 19 years, Betsy.
Funeral will be held on Friday at 11:00 am in Corpus Christi Church, 2001 US-9, Round Lake, NY 12151 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Calling hours will be from 5-7 pm Thursday in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 155 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065.
