Obituary of Paul G. Haas
Paul G. Haas, 88, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Van Rensselaer Manor in Troy. He was the beloved husband of the late Martha (Mickey) May Haas with whom he shared 49 years of marriage before her death in 2006.

Paul eventually moved his family to Poestenkill and worked as a typesetter for Williams Press. In the mid 1970s, he changed careers and became a manager at Grand Union supermarkets in the Capital District; a job he held until his retirement in 1997. After his wife’s death, he moved to Melrose with his daughter Mary.
He is survived by his three daughters, Donna Holt, Mary Alice (John) Carroll, and Karen (Al) Tarwerdi; sister Andrea (the late Al) Graham; grandsons Dan (Shannon) Middleton, Mark (Heather) Donohue, Gregory (Jennifer) Holt, Andrew Tarwerdi and John Carroll; his cherished granddaughter Kara (Al) Piraino; honorary granddaughter Allison (Tim) Mahar; great grandchildren Taylor, Connor, Nicholas, Ella, Ava, Anthony, Nathan, Ryleigh, Joey, Eric, Alex, Maxx and Mason; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Paul was predeceased by his much loved mother-in-law Mary May, his brother George Haas, sisters Barbara (Bud) Rego and Jane (the late George) Foerster, step-grandson Christopher Carroll and several sisters and brothers-in-law.
The family would like to send deepest appreciation to the amazing staff at Van Rensselaer Manor for their kindness and care. The level of compassion shown by all staff from administration, dietary, security, maintenance, housekeeping, and of course all the incredible B3 nursing and floor staff helped make Paul’s final days so comfortable.
