Obituary of Ophelia J. Smith

Ophelia J. Smith, 65, of Troy, beloved wife of the late Michael Smith, peacefully entered into eternal life on Sunday, January 28, 2024 surrounded by her family at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany.

Born and educated in Parrish, FL, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Riley and Cora Lee House Riley Pitts.

Mother Smith loved praising the Lord, her children, shopping and dressing. She also enjoyed Bingo and dressing to the T’s. Her hobbies and interests included traveling and visiting with family.

She had been a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Troy.

Devoted mother of Scott (Alicia) Pitts, Sentroid Smith and Roshawon Donley, sister of James, Geraldine, Andrew, Mary Jane, Phyllis, Bernice, Marryanne, Jake, Horce and Jessie, also survived by her adored grandchildren, cherished great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and her Home Going Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. all in the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (Corner of 115^th Street in Lansingburgh), Troy, NY 12182.

Interment will follow in Elmwood Hill Cemetery, Troy.

The Repast which funeral service attendees are invited to will be held at the Oriental Shriners Hall, 75 Water Plant Road, Troy, NY 12182 following the interment at Elmwood Hill Cemetery.
