Obituary of Leo Vartigian

Leo Vartigian, 93, of Lansingburgh, devoted husband of the late Gladys E. Murray Vartigian, died peacefully on February 13, 2024 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy.

Born in Troy, NY, he was the son of the late Richard and Zabel Minassian Vartigian and attended Troy High School.

For many years, Leo worked as Grocery Manager at several different businesses. Mr. Vartigian also worked at Liebners 6:30 Club for more than 20 years until retiring.

Mr. Vartigian was blessed to have completed many trips with his sons Lee and Phillip to multiple cities that included baseball games, visits to horse racing clubs and many other overnights. He was very quick to travel along to any event. Mr. Vartigian spent most evenings at the All-Troy Athletic Club surrounded by many friends who deeply respected him and watched out for him.

Survivors include his loving sons, Lee R. Vartigian (Jeanette) of Troy and Phillip C. Vartigian of Lansingburgh, his daughter, Patricia Vartigian of Wynantskill, his sister Sarah Gaudette of Waterford, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers, George, Harry, Joseph, Paul and his sister Mary.

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (at the corner of 115th Street In Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Funeral Home on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Interment will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy.
