Obituary of James J. O'Hara
James Joseph O’Hara (“Jim”), originally of Danbury, CT, passed quietly at home with family on February
15, 2024, at the age of 87. Jim was a 1954 graduate of Danbury High School, where he obtained his
varsity letters in Football and Track. He continued to play football at the University of Bridgeport where
he earned a bachelor’s degree in 1958 and later obtained a master’s degree of Business Administration
(MBA) from Western New England College in 1970. While a few years were spent as an independent ski
equipment representative, he spent almost his entire career as a sales and marketing manager for Heli
Coil Corporation in Danbury, CT. An avid storyteller and possessed of a true interest in others, he
excelled in this work. He made friends often and easily and kept them for life. Jim was an avid
woodworker, skier, golfer and loved the New York Giants and UConn woman’s basketball. He spent
many years in the color guard of the Danbury Drum Corps and was an active member of the Elks Club in
Danbury.
He loved and was loved by his family and is survived by his wife of 59 years, Roberta S.
O’Hara, now of Halfmoon, NY; his son Gregory J. O’Hara and his wife Mary E. O’Hara, of Danbury, CT; his
daughter Susan O’Hara Hayes, and her children Timothy Hayes and Bethany Hayes, also of Halfmoon,
NY; and his son Mark O’Hara, his wife Lauren O’Hara and their daughters, Elizabeth O’Hara and
Katherine O’Hara, of Suffield, CT. Jim had a successful, complete, and well lived life which stands as a
shining example for us all. He will be sorely missed.
