HINDU RITUAL
IN LIEU OF FLOWERS
Obituary of Samit Kurtish Dharia
In loving memory
On June 19th. 2024, Samit (Sam) Dharia, loving son of Kurtish and Jignya Dharia, older brother of
Shikha, and partner to Samantha Jayawickrama passed away peacefully at home in Niskayuna,
NY after a courageous battle with cancer.
Samit was known for his caring, funny, and loving soul. He loved skiing, traveling the world, and
spending time with his precious family and friends. He graduated from Cornell University with
a BS in Industrial Labor Relations. He later graduated from Northwestern's MMM Program with
a MBA degree and MS degree in Design Innovation. He loved his work in finance and
technology, and following his favorite sports teams.
Sam also cared deeply about helping others no matter his own circumstance. He found
fulfillment in supporting other cancer patients going through the same battle as his own. He
also loved his international volunteer trips.
Samit will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends and will always be remembered in
their hearts. The impact he made on all of our lives will forever remain.
We are sincerely grateful to the many family and friends who have given us support and comfort.
