Obituary of Roberta LaGrange

Roberta LaGrange (Sweet) 81, of Brunswick, NY passed away peacefully on June 17, 2017 after a long courageous fight to overcome chronic illness.

She was born on November 28, 1935 in Schenectady, NY to Robert and Ethel Countermine Sweet. In 1956, she married her husband John, built a home in Crown Point and started a family. For the next 18 years, John's career moved the family to Arkansas, Illinois and Michigan. In 1986, they were able to move back to New York and build their forever dream home in Schroon Lake "The Log Cabin". They resided here for 27 years until John's death in 2012. Roberta had to part with the log cabin and make Brunswick her new home.

Roberta was a loyal Yankees fan and was always asking, "Are the Yankees playing tonight?" She loved the ocean and looked so forward to taking a vacation or cruise every year with her daughters and granddaughters. She would never pass up the opportunity to go to a garage sale, antique shop, flower shop or out to dinner. She enjoyed anything even if it was just to go for a drive.

She had a smile that was a bit mischievous and a way about her that could cheer and comfort you just by hearing her voice. She will forever be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.

She is predeceased by her husband John of 55 years and an infant son John, Jr.

She leaves behind her daughters Debbie Martin (Tom), Janelle Vincent (Ron) and Johanna LaGrange, granddaughters Amber, Paige, Harlie and Crystal, great grandchildren Sullivan and Emeri, sister Janet and nieces, nephews, cousins and of course her beloved pets Dakota and Diamond.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Morris-Stebbins-Miner-Sanvidge Funeral Home, 312 Hoosick St., Troy, NY 12180 on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and to the funeral service which will begin that evening at 7:00 p.m.
