Obituary of Robert A. Hilton, Sr.

Robert A. "Bob" Hilton, Sr., 75, of "Hilton Pianos", went home to be with the Lord surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, March 8, 2018, , following a lengthy illness. He was the son of the late Roland A. and Alice Margaret Hilton, and husband of Helen V. Seeberger Hilton.  He was born and raised in the capital region where he resided his entire life. Robert "Bob" loved playing the piano and became a musician at a very young age.  He owned the Hilton Piano & Organ stores in Albany for over 50 years and influenced thousand of musicians during his lifetime. Bob was classically trained pianist who took his talents into the Jazz world and performed with many famous artists throughout the 1960s, 70s and 80s. As a pianist, he became well known for his style of playing that featured voicings and arrangements that made singers and other musicians want to perform with him.

He is further survived by their six children: Robert A. (Terri) Hilton, Jr. of Glens Falls, Richard A. (Brenda) Hilton of Rotterdam, Dawn M. Hilton of Jacksonville, FL, Russell A. (Laurie) Hilton of Westerlo, Susan V. (Keith) Davey of Colonie and Rebecca L. (Justin) MacDougall of Saugerties; his siblings: Arthur (Harleen) Hilton & Larry (Betty) Hilton both of Castleton, Marlin (Fred) Dunn of Delmar, Ellen Faucher of E. Greenbush, Carolyn (Bill) Mayer of Guilderland, John (Monica) Hilton of Ballston Spa and Lorain (Steve) VanZandt of East Greenbush; 19 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

The funeral and worship service will be held Sunday, March 11th at 6:30 PM at New Life Assembly of God Church, 292 Hays Road, East Greenbush, NY 12061, with his son-in-law, the Rev. Keith Davey, Pastor of New Hope Church, Albany, officiating. Friends are invited to call for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 5:30 PM.  There will be a time of fellowship following the service. The interment will be held Monday, March 12th at 10:00 AM at Blooming Grove Rural Cemetery, Bloomingrove Drive, Defreestville, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in memory of "Bob Hilton" be made to New Hope Church, 148 Dove Street, Albany, NY 12202.
